Lot of hate and insecurity going around in this thread. Posts completely clouded by obvious bias from both sides. Can we please stop comparing LCA to every other aircraft out there and just accept the most basic truth, it's a decent aircraft but program has some teething supply chain issues.
The program as a whole has done great good for our aviation industry but we need more political will to carry forward the gains from the program. As for the plane itself, from all things I have read so far, it's pretty decent and will do the job it is intended to do (interceptor role) for quiet some time. Ofcourse there will be 5 th gen fighters it might have to contend with in the air, but remember its not just two individual systems that go up against each other, ecosystems face off each other. LCA won't be up there alone, it will have other air and ground assets complementing it and supporting it, everything from ground and aerial radars to SAM networks, UAVs and other fighters (5th gen too). Sure, in a one on one fight with say the latest f16 or 5th gen fighters the odds are heavily stacked against the Tejas, but when entire ecosystems face off against each other, it's hard to say which combined system one will trump the other.
Point is, all this talk about which aircraft is better or if Tejas is relavant or not are moot if you arent discussing these other systems too.
I just wish the culture in HAL and MoD also changed with times and kept pace with the progress this program made. Our mindset in HAL and MoD (from HR and political standpoint) is still stuck in the 80s.
