TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The train factory of PT INKA (Persero) Banyuwangi, East Java, is targeted to operate fully in the first semester of 2025 and requires a lot of workers who are prioritized for the sons and daughters of Banyuwangi.

President Director of PT INKA (Persero) Eko Purwanto said that INKA Banyuwangi is committed to making a positive contribution to the regional economy by prioritizing the absorption of local workers. According to Eko, the need for workers is in line with the factory's plan to start a production line with sophisticated machines in the next few months.

"We are currently installing several more sophisticated machines and equipment, robotic automation. Of course, production will increase because it utilizes higher technology," said Eko.

The sophisticated machines will be used to produce the Jabodetabek electric rail train (KRL) ordered by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (PT KCI). Previously, Eko continued, since 2023 the INKA Banyuwangi train factory has been operating, but still in small capacity, namely for the production of freight car orders.

"With the addition of several technological infrastructure facilities, the fabrication activities of the INKA Madiun factory can be transferred to Banyuwangi, considering that currently the factory capacity in Madiun is also at its maximum," said Eko.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani appreciated PT INKA, which is the largest train factory in Southeast Asia, prioritizing Banyuwangi to fill the need for workers.
