Iran is being unreasonable here. Iran blocked Strait of Hormuz itself for weeks and stopped the tankers of other Gulf nations leaving out of strait unless they paid the toll tax while Iranian tankers keep moving in/out of Strait without any restriction during the period.
Iran and US both are stubborn. The region will have serious consequences If Iran acquires nuclear weapons and/or start charging the toll tax which is against the international law as strait of Hromuz is not man's made.

They caused billions in damages in Iran

Who is going to pay for it?


Either the U.S and it's allies can pay Iran reparations or Iran will need to tax the Hormuz

Either way someone has to pay, you can't expect Iran to pay to fix infrastructure damaged or destroyed by the U.S

Don't fall into pessimism.

Trump need to get out desperately. This second round will lead to deplete stocks more and most worrying, the oil price Will skyrocket, not to mention eventual looses.

Irán has no bigger enemy than US.

US has to contain China, take a look to Russia and now surrender Irán. This is harder than Hércules seven Jobs.

Keep the Hormuz closed and keep the conflict going until Iran can get concessions

The point is that if the legitimacy of your toll system comes from "having built" it, as if it was some sort of investment, then Egypt does not have such legitimacy either. Egypt inherited the Canal of Suez from the Persians, the Brits and the French and we have inherited it from God. I don't see a difference.

You're missing the point, my friend. Egypt didn't build it. So, how is it different from the Strait of Hormuz? God created the Strait of Hormuz and now we are collecting toll there.


I never said Iran "owned" the Strait of Hormuz. State the law that says that Iran cannot control the Strait of Hormuz. Most heavy tankers pass through Iranian territorial waters because the depth of the other part of the strait in its narrowest point is not enough for heavy oil tankers and containers. Iran does not own the strait, but it can certainly administer its own territorial waters.

It does not matter who built the Suez Canal. The only thing that matter is "who holds the Suez Canal".

Iran has the right of territorial water of Strait of Hormuz in a way that it can extract oil, gas etc but when it comes to passing tankers through Strait of Hormuz, international law kicks in. All the straits in world allow fee passage of tankers without any toll tax.

Do you think its fair for Pak or any other Gulf nation to pay $2 million per tanker toll tax when they are sitting not very far from Strait of Hormuz. No one likes it and no one in the world will allow you to charge toll tax.
