Totally agree with Iran here, cause if you want to negotiate than lift the blockade, when Iran agrees to open SoH, American blockade is against the ceasefire agreement, I think its the Israeli's who sell trump this strategy to choke Iran's maritime borders to extract more concessions or complete surrender. Israel knew that hitting Iran during ceasefire to sabotage is will bring more criticism, hence they use their snakes like Kushner and Witkov to whisper BS to Trump.

Iran is being unreasonable here. Iran blocked Strait of Hormuz itself for weeks and stopped the tankers of other Gulf nations leaving out of strait unless they paid the toll tax while Iranian tankers keep moving in/out of Strait without any restriction during the period.
Iran and US both are stubborn. The region will have serious consequences If Iran acquires nuclear weapons and/or start charging the toll tax which is against the international law as strait of Hromuz is not man's made.
It would have been until USA terrorists attacked their ship

It's easy for an outsider to think that way, but it's pretty unfair to the Iranian people. If the US and Japan ever dared to launch missile strikes against Xi Jinping and the top Chinese leadership, I can guarantee you that every single Chinese nuke would be launched immediately. They'd make sure the only people left alive in the US are mutants.

By Iran's reformists you mean Mojtaba Khamenei? As obviously speaker, foreign minister etc can't make any decision without supreme leader and IRGC approval.

Also its them the supreme leader / IRGC who decided to accept ceasefire. I don't understand how any other reformist can do a thing in Iran's power structure.

Reformist is a broad term that includes several groups that want detente with the U.S, even at great national security cost.

This includes the elite classes, Bazaaris, pragmatists, and liberals, and even some elements of IRGC believe it or not. Mojtaba himself visited England a few times, so you cannot even begin to compare him to his father who never left the country as the Supreme Leader let alone visited a colonial western nation.

There is no reason to restrict passage toll solely to manmade straights.

Also, the Canal of Suez was first created by the Achaemenids of Persia, and later was revived and expanded by the French and the Brits. Using your logic, Egypt should allow free passage there too, or give the toll money to Iran, UK and France.
Suez Canal is man made while Strait of Hormuz is not.

Tankers are free to pass without any restriction (toll tax) in Strait of Hormuz like Strait of Malacca, Strait of Gibraltar etc as per law otherwise all the nations will start charging toll tax in world who are around the straits.

Let us leave aside the problem with selective application of "international law" for one moment, just to entertain your thoughts further.

Here is a summary (mine, not AI) what International Maritime Law actually permits in this situation:

Within 12 nautical miles perpendicular to a national coastline, nations can apply the limitation of "innocent passage" upon transiting vessels (NOT "freedom of navigation", which exists beyond that distance).

"Innocent passage" allows a nation to impart reasonable security measures upon transiting vessels, including boarding, blocking, and being recompensed for said security. Iran is actually within its maritime rights to exert conditions of transit withing 12 nautical miles perpendicular to its coastline.

Indeed, it is USA that has clearly and unequivocally engaged in piracy here.

How does this refute what I said? The Canal of Suez was not built by the Egyptians. It was first built by the Achaemenids of Persia, and later was revived and widened by the French and the British. So, if anything, the toll should go to Iran, the UK and France.
Why is Egypt taking the toll? They didn't build it. They had nothing to do with its existence.

State that law. What law is it?

You're incorrect. Iran is acting in its own security interests within its territorial waters, which is ENTIRELY permissible by international maritime law.

There are countless examples of this.

Do you not think German commercial shipping was blockaded during WW2 by Britain?

The US is not self-sufficient in oil by any means. Neither do global oil prices work that way.
The United States is a net exporter of total petroleum (crude oil and refined products) as of 2026, meaning it produces more than it consumes.please check yourself also

Even the 12 nautical miles is an arbitrary number stated in the UNCLOS, but Iran has never ratified the UNCLOS and hence, it is not bound to respect it. Hence, we can claim our territorial waters expand to 24 nautical miles. Why not?
