Arman (120km),
Mehran-1 (200km)
Mehran-2 (320km)
integrate radars and AD missiles into a single vehicle.

This allows for much higher mobility.

And then, they add Majid or Azarakhsh point defense SHORADS for protection of the AD systems from anti-radiation drones and other threats.

As of now, Iran has air defense systems with ranges from 8kms to 320kms.

Next phase is development of something like S-500 with ASAT capability

How about the Missiles(Azaraksh ) and Sensors(Majid does not utilize radar). Go look at the Majid again and see if it actually looks like a "copy-cat"

Perfect description actually. Took the words out of my mouth.

Iran took the Bavar 373 and created an ABM variant (Arman).

Just like Russia took S-300 and created S-300VM aka Antey-2500. Which was ironically the system Russia offered Iran after it shutdown production line on S-300 to focus on S-400 and S-500.


It’s a smart thing for Iran, rather than create an ABM system from scratch (ie Arrow), use components you already have.

ABM shields are VERY expensive and Iran doesn’t have the luxury of military budgets of countries like US/China/Russia or even neighbors like Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Hypothetically the only country that could use BMs against Iran (besides Israel’s jerichos) would be Saudi Arabia and maybe one day Turkey. So this prevents a future “war of cities” that plagued Iran during Iran-Iraq war.

US does not use BMs in military operations outside of nuclear tipped missiles.

It seems like Iran has made great progress in development of air defense systems



Next phase is development of a very longe range Air Defense System that can take out aerial refueling tankers and AWACS and with ABM, and ASAT capability (S-500 equivalent)
