Discussion: Assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran

I don't see any Iranian reply other than the symbolic reply like it did last time with drones. May be this time it's not drone but the level of damage to Israel won't be big enough to be of any serious concern for Israel.

If the reply Involve Hizb than that would be great strategic mistake.

Did not not see nine hits from ballistic missiles and all those cruise missiles that were also launched?

What significant damage did those BMs did? Iranian embassy and it's general got cooked, Israelis got off the hook with far less repercussions, same is gonna happen this time too.

Do you really think that was good enough reply? or cause of any concern for Israel?

Israel's aim is to expand the war and force the US into it.

Iran doesn't have to hit Israel back too hard, because even blowing up a little more Israeli property won't help the strategic goal much, and it's a protracted war that will really hurt Israel.

Bleed slowly and don't let the Americans come and disturb it.

Advanced missiles like the Fattah-1/2 were developed for precisely this type of scenario, to conduct a measured and minimal counter-attack against enemy bases with a small number of missiles.

It would be a significant victory if they could attack Mossad bases by penetrating the massive air defense network of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the US military surrounding Israel with just a few shots of Fattah.

However, if they are intercepted, Iran's deterrent power will be lost as they would be embarrassed in front of the world.

The Iranian leadership does not have the courage to take such a risky gamble, and they are probably still scratching their heads over this dilemma.

This is correct. But Israel is trying to goad Iran into a direct war (where it relies on the US to intervene and fight Iran on its behalf) and Iran has huge pressure to respond to set red lines and to show it is a legitimate government that protects its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people generally.

Iran actually has more cards than Israel. In fact the US is now afraid to join any new war quagmire. Iran just needs to give the US a decent reason and they are not willing to declare war on Iran.

Israel has a very small population, a very small country, and actually has very limited war potential. As long as the Islamic world holds the war to the end, without surrender or negotiation, Israel is bound to lose.

the problem is half of the 'islamic world' (Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt...) will side with Israel against Iran because they are deeply infiltrated by the USA ...

Interesting that the cause of the blast which killed Haniyeh is still undetermined. There are many theories from the media as to what really happened.

How can forensics not find even small clues in the room, pieces of the bomb, logbooks of people entering/exiting, security camera footage or anything that can help investigation into finding the identity of perpetrators in this day and age.

IRGC just released this statement:

According to the investigations, this terrorist operation was carried out by firing a short-range projectile with a warhead of approximately 7 kilograms with a powerful explosion from outside the guests' accommodation area.
